Our adventure activities cater for people with a disability
Additional Information from the business
The following activities are available to people with a disability:
We are committed to making our tours as inclusive and accessible as possible.
- Floatation Devices: Safe life saving recognised floats. Allowing guests with lower swimming ability, physical disabilities or certain mental health conditions to confidently join the experience
- Supportive Crew: Trained to provide extra support, both in and out of the water. Attentive to guests who may require additional assistance. Additional crew members for added support. 1:1 ratio where required.
-Small Group Sizes: Smaller group number to allow for a more personalised experience and to support guests who may need it.
- Boarding assistance: Procedures in place to supporting boarding. While our vessels may not be fully wheel chair accessible due to the logitics of the boat harbour and DOT jetties, our team offers physical assistance during boarding and disembarking the vessel.
- Clear communication: We provide step by step briefings and are present from start to finish to assist.
Our team go above and beyond to support our clients and provide an inclusive experience.
The equipment utilised to make the activities available are:
Surf live saving buoys: Lightweight, wide and easy to grip, designed for comfort and stability, towed by our guides, recognised by surf life saving Australia.
Full Length Wetsuits: Buoyancy and thermal control. Particularly beneficial for those who tire easily.
Water entry area: Large wide platforms, railing over stairs so passengers are able to ease down to enter the water, and pull themselves up to exit if possible.
The following limitations apply to participation, including those activities that are not available to people with a disability:
Vessel Access: Due to the design of the service jetties in the Jurien Bay Boat Harbour (as well as tide changes) we are sadly limited with our vessel accessibility and it is an issue we are working on with Tourism WA. Boarding requires the ability to step up and down a less than 3 steps (depending on the tide) with assistance. There are handrails and assistance available, but mobility is necessary for safe boarding at this time.
In-water participation: Our in-water experiences may not be suitable for all guests. Guest must be able to use a floatation device, be able to enter the water via a marlin board and railed ladder, be able to understand and follow safety instructions.
We encourage all guests to contact us prior to booking if they or someone in their group has a disability. This allows u to discuss specific needs, access suitability, and provide honest recommendations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
